Scabies - tiny parasitic mites that lay eggs under the skin. They affect men and women.

How scabies is passed on:
Scabies is passed on by sexual or close contact with a person who has scabies. The mites can survive for 72 hours off the body so it is also possible to catch scabies from bed sheets, clothes or towels.

Signs and symptoms:
After coming into contact with scabies it could be up to six weeks before any symptoms appear. The most common symptom is an itchy rash or very small spots.
